Unlikable characters with little growth. Typically in dark romance, the alpha male at some point realizes that his love interest is more than a sexual conquest and the power dynamic evens out some as he is as in love with her as she is with him. In this case, Lucifer never thinks of Lilith beyond a possession. A possession he loves, but still a possession. Not so romantic for me. And what I could not get past was how Lilith gave no thought whatsoever to the fact that her children were taken over by this self-absorbed sociopath. Telling the reader from each perspective that they are in love with the other doesn't work. I never felt love from either character. Both were awful and never got better.

Worst of all, Lilith thought it was great that there was finally a man interested in her children. I guess for her that sort of role model was fine - it's okay to keep a woman against her will if you're stronger. In fact, she'll learn to love it because let's face it, he knows best. Seriously. The character arch for Lilith is that she realizes that giving into Lucifer and letting him run her life is what gives her happiness. Gave me the creeps.

The climax was not suspenseful. At no point was I worried. Apart from the setup, there were no hitches or twists or anything unexpected. The sex was fine, but nothing special. The writing was decent. But the characters killed this book.

Keeping Lily Izzy Sweet Sean Moriarty 9781541154544 Books Reviews

This is poorly written, with poorly designed characters. I got it free and want my money back. Lily , the moron, doesn't even stand up for herself, and allows this lucifer to own her. She rolls over, I'm so happy I was kidnapped cuz he's got an endless credit card and takes an interest in my kids. This book isn't remotely realistic, no development, not even for lucifer. He loves his possesion? No you can't love something you own. I'd give no stars if I could
When Lily wakes to find a huge man towering over her and her husband's bed in the middle of the night, she discovers that the man who broke in wasn't the true monster in her room, it was the man laying in her own bed, her husband!

He traded both her and her children to pay off his debt! She also finds herself strangely attracted to the sculpted figure with obvious list in his eyes. This is the night she becomes his property along with her children and Lily's world is turned upside down.

Lucifer is filled with a completely new feeling he can't quite understand but it begins as possession but turns into obsession then becomes something no monster like him ever believed he could have, love! Stranger yet, after some time, Lily feels the same feelings towards her captor.

The story is impeccably written and is compelling from start to finish. I was enthralled with the developing relationship, not only between Lucifer and Lily, but also between Lucifer and both the small children. It seemed surreal seeing this ruthless monster also written with such a seemingly diametrically opposed personality when he related to Lily's young children.

I was mesmerized and found myself liking a man who, for all intents and purposes shouldn't have been allowed to breathe in the direction of such utter innocence, yet I wanted him, in some ways,to succeed at being a parent and potential role model for the kids. I loved the way the story unfolds! I highly recommend this book, not only do you get an amazingly steamy and erotic romance but you will love and hate the protective alpha male mafia boss who will stop at nothing to save the family he stole! Wow, just wow!
I have mixed feelings about this story. It was more a story about possession than a dark romance in my opinion. Lucifer is the head of a criminal empire, is violent and ruthless, and always gets what he wants. Lily's husband owes Lucifer a lot of money and gives Lily to Lucifer as a hostage until he gets the money to pay Lucifer back. Lucifer was already obsessed by Lily from a picture and decides he doesn't want her as a hostage, he wants her and her two young children as his own, ready-made family. So he just kicks Lily's husband out of their lives and takes her and the children to live with him as his family. I didn't care much for Lily. She couldn't resist Lucifer, if you get my meaning. I expected her to be stronger willed, at least for the sake of her children. Instead, she let Lucifer pretty much take over, hiring a nanny, and insinuating himself in her and the children's lives too easily.

My main issue is with the graphic violence throughout the book, especially at the end. We already know that Lucifer ran a criminal empire and didn't get where he is by being a nice guy. That's why I feel the descriptive graphic violence was over the top and unnecessary to further the story.
The book starts with one of the most feared criminal named Lucifer looking into his missing 5 million dollars. He discovers the man who did pay his debt has a gorgeous wife and 2 kids that he wants. Lucifer doesnt understand how a man his fathers age could have married such a beautiful young woman. So Lucifer decides to go to Marshalls house ( the man who owns 5 million) and collect the debt. When he says he cant pay he offers his wife as collateral until he can get the money. Lucifer rejects the deal but offers a new deal. He wants his wife and kids permanently. Marshall agrees and Lily ( his wife) is furious especially since she was going to divorce him the next day.
Lily then is forced to move in with Lucifer but he treats her better than Marshall ever did and the kids as well. She thinks about running away but Lucifer lives in a fortress. Then the unthinkable happens and Lucifer has to do the unthinkable. Will this act solidify a relationship or will it all come crashing down. Read to find out. I hope you enjoy it.
